Tại buổi ra mắt lực lượng sáng 29/10, đại tá Huỳnh Quang Tâm, Trưởng phòng Cảnh sát PCCC TP HCM cho biết tổ cứu nạn đặc biệt tinh nhuệ gồm lực lượng trên cạn và dưới nước được xây dựng để xử lý những tình huống phức tạp, cấp bách trên địa bàn. Đây là tổ đặc biệt tinh nhuệ đầu tiên của cả nước.

Các thành viên được lựa chọn theo nhiều tiêu chí: sức khỏe tốt, chuyên môn giỏi, từng tham gia nhiều vụ cứu nạn cứu hộ sau đó tập luyện theo giáo án đặc biệt có tham khảo kinh nghiệm từ Nhật Bản, Hàn Quốc.
Tổ này sẽ chuyên cứu nạn trong những tình huống khó khăn như: dùng bộ đàm, camera dưới nước để phối hợp cứu người mắc kẹt trong cống thải khi nước triều cường dâng cao, cứu người mắc kẹt trong ôtô rơi xuống sông hay nạn nhân kẹt trong tòa nhà cao tầng khi có cháy…

Thành phố cũng trang bị máy móc, robot chữa cháy, hút khói, xử lý môi trường, hóa chất độc hại trị giá 119 tỷ đồng hỗ trợ tổ này khi làm nhiệm vụ. “Tổ này sẽ chi viện cho các tỉnh thành lân cận hoặc tham gia nhiệm vụ cứu nạn quốc tế khi có yêu cầu”, đại tá Tâm nói.
Phòng Cảnh sát PCCC TP HCM từng tham gia cứu nạn, chi viện nhiều vụ việc khó khăn. Hồi năm 2020, lực lượng từng đưa người rơi xuống hang sâu 280 m ở Hà Giang lên mặt đất hay tìm thi thể dưới hang sâu 220 m trong khe núi ở Cao Bằng. Năm ngoái, các chiến sĩ cũng từng đến Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ để hỗ trợ cứu nạn sau thảm hoạ động đất.
